Similar to Peel St and connected to it by a little alleyway through some restaurants and bars, this whole precinct is full of high-end restaurants and bars.

If you're not up early enough for the Farmer's Market on Sundays, head to this one instead (open until 3pm). Less fresh produce to take home (and what IS there is more expensive...) but lots of good stuff to eat on the spot. Always live music, definitely younger and a bit more sceney... on the whole a more hipster, gluten-free/organic/vegan, etc focussed type of market.

Shopping

Great little fine food store with amazing products from Europe (pastas, cheeses, olive oils, etc). They have great fresh bread on Saturdays, so we often go pick up a few things for breakfast at home.

Massive Farmer's Market here on Sundays until 1pm. Lots of local produce, tons of food being made ready-to-eat, usually there's someone playing some music... Nothing better for a foodie to do on a Sunday morning. (Ignore the map, the entrance is on Leader St)

Getting Around

The tram will take you right into the city (5-10 minutes depending on the stop) or all the way to the beach at Glenelg (20 minutes).

Drinks & Nightlife

Lots of great small bars and a few good restaurants too. The crowd is late-twenties+. Try Clever Little Tailor for amazing cocktails and Peel St (restaurant) for a unique mix of aussie foods with asian spices and ingredients. (Neither are cheap).

Parks & Nature

Skip Mount Lofty (our highest peak, but super crowded all the time) and head to Morialta for a much more interesting hiking experience. Well(-ish) marked hikes from 30 mins to 3 hours with some great vistas of the city, the ocean, waterfalls, etc. Almost guaranteed to see some koala if you keep your eyes out for those grey furballs in the trees! Use google maps to find a bus that will take you right to the entrance of the park. Do keep track of which trail you're following though (cell reception will work as well) because this park is crossed by some very long trails that go hundreds of km through the state!

Sightseeing

The German colony of Hahndorf is a great place to visit for an afternoon. It's basically a year-long christmas-y type of town. Lots of little artisans, some great food (get into the White House if you can, or try one of the bavarian beer gardens), and just a cute little place to walk up and down the main road.
