A must do treat after a big day. A takeaway menu of one item - Spanish Lamb with Potatoes. Each serving is sized for 2 people, but stretches to 3 and maybe 4 people. Get yourself some greens from the super market and either pick up or ask them to deliver. Enjoy the views from the house and NZ lamb.
A good idea is to call ahead to make sure they put your order aside as they often run out.

My secret spot to stop when mountain biking between Queenstown and Arrowtown or Gibbston Valley. You get great coffee and some tasty treats. Unfortunately, its an extra hill from the river track, but definitely worth it.

Visit the lovingly reinstated historic Boatshed Cafe for coffee, snacks or lunch. The sticky date buns are famous and go well with your coffee. Its my regular stop for walking or mountain biking.

The menu never changes but it is a must do part of the Queenstown thing. Expect great 'nz style' (lots of toppings) pizza. My regular order is : Garlic Bread; "Your Magesty's Pleasure" Pizza and "Seafood Supreme"

Walking 2 Hours : How quickly can you get away from the crowds? Not far out of town on the road towards Glenorchy a farm road leads its way through the hills to an idyllic small lake and camping ground. Picnic on the shore before walking around the lake.
The walk offers some great views of the surrounding mountains and valley. Suitable for moderate level of fitness, path is very easy to follow as you're looping around the lake.

The walk offers some great views of the surrounding mountains and valley. Suitable for moderate level of fitness, path is very easy to follow as you're looping around the lake.

Jane Peasey can be found at the Lakes District Museum and provides a great walking tour explaining the towns history and some great anecdotes about the colourful characters that lived here. The walk is at a gentle pace and takes you through several areas of town you might not otherwise come across. The views from the war memorial are some of the best in town. Would highly recommend this tour and combine this with a visit to the fascinating museum.

Its right outside the kitchen window so I thought I should provide some background to it:
This beautifully preserved historic building is a good example of stonemason's art. It was build for Frederick Daniel about 1874. Daniel served (unusually) as Mayor of Queenstown and Chairman of the Lakes County Council at the same time. He sold the property in a mortgagee sale in 1893 and left town. Sometime later it was turned into a small maternity hospital, then became a private residence, and latterly an accomodation house.
You can't go inside, but do appreciate it as you make your coffee and enjoy their beautiful roses.
