Museums large and small. Some art galleries. Some free some a nominal fee and some offer memberships. Enjoy a beer in the Sculpture Garden and or a lunch or dinner at the casual Panama 66. Check Panama 66's web site before hand as sometimes they have private events that close down the venue. Also El Prado restaurant is lovely. You can order alacart in the bar area or enjoy more of an upscale dining experience in the main restaurant.
Balboa Park truly has something for everybody. Check the park website www.balboapark.org for information. Including the Free Tuesdays schedule. The park is right next to the San Diego Zoo and right in the middle of downtown.

Cute area to walk around or bike and enjoy the quirky local scene. South park is for a "chill" evening. Or a sunny afternoon. Stroll the streets holding hands and paying attention to nothing but the little shop fronts and each other. Or socialize in the wine bar, or make friends at The Station. Your options are open. A mile or so walk. Thorn then Right on Redwood, Left on 30th street and walk about a mile or less. And there it is. Small but with so much to offer.
