No frills. Again, no frills! But, insanely good burgers hot off the grill. Cold beer and soft drinks by the can. Right on Main Street in downtown Galax. Be forewarned, they allow smoking inside, and some patrons do. But they've got high ceilings and pretty good ventilation - it's worth putting up with it for those scrumtious burgers!

Beautiful old courthouse, retired in 1979, and lovingly maintained by the volunteers of the 1908 Courthouse Foundation. The building is gorgeous inside and out with a top floor courtroom (now repurposed as an auditorium) that looks as if Atticus Finch could walk in at any moment. On the main floor you'll find the Grayson Crossroads Museum. It's chock full of historic artifacts and memorabilia from the region. They even display the dress Elanor Roosevelt wore when visiting Witetop mountain in 1933. It's definitely worth stopping in if you find yourself in the area.

The building is gorgeous inside and out with a top floor courtroom (now repurposed as an auditorium) that looks as if Atticus Finch could walk in at any moment. On the main floor you'll find the Grayson Crossroads Museum. It's chock full of historic artifacts and memorabilia from the region. They even display the dress Elanor Roosevelt wore when visiting Witetop mountain in 1933. It's definitely worth stopping in if you find yourself in the area.

Lead from the nearby Austinville Mines was melted in a kettle atop the 75-foot tower and poured through a sieve, falling through the tower and an additional 75-foot shaft beneath the tower into a kettle of water. Guests may ascend the tower, which is on the National Register of Historic Places. Interpretive signs provide details on the tower.
Grounds are open from dawn until dusk. The parking lot is open year-round. The tower is open on scheduled days in the summer. Admission to the tower is free, however the daily parking fee applies. Group tours are also available.

Foster Falls - Another access point along the New River Trail complex, scenic Foster Falls offers boat, horse and bike rentals, picnic shelters, and hiking trails. Located at milepost 24.0, the cascading waters glide over river bedrock amidst a background of limestone cliffs.
