Beaches
Carrabelle Beach Park is seven miles down the coast with beautiful white sand and is a wonderful spot to relax, listen to the waves, dolphin watch, and sunbathe., The water is the color of tea due to tannin from trees in the surrounding National Forests. You will find retro-style pavilions, restrooms, handicap ramps, and bear-proof trash cans. Leashed pets are allowed.
St George Island has one of the top-rated beaches in the country to enjoy the white sand, play in the waves or swim. SGI is reached by the bridge in Eastpoint 20 miles from Lanark Village. The State Park has a small entry fee.
St James Island is home to Alligator Point public beach; another amazing white sand beach. Enjoy swimming, dolphin watching, and some shelling opportunities. Approx 40 miles or 25 minutes.

Camp Gordon Johnston opened in 1942 for the sole purpose of training Infantry Divisions and their support units in amphibious operations by U. S. Army Engineer Special Brigades.

On October 10, 2018, Hurricane Michael made landfall as a category 5 storm. Many counties in northwest Florida were impacted by this fierce storm. Recovery is still in progress in several communities and Tyndall Air Force Base near Panama City. Calling ahead may be prudent.
