This is a family owned Mexican Grocery Store located in Coachella. It is famous among the locals for its fresh meats in particular it’s Barbacoa which we love! They have beef barbacoa which is always delicious, sheep and goat is also sometimes available and our very favorite which is oxtail! You have to order this at the store and then cook it at home – add a little rice and/or tortillas and you have a meal to die for! If you managed to read this far, we will let you in on a little secret….you can bring your own empty pot from the house for them to fill with the meat, then you take it straight home and put it on the stove and slow cook – only the locals know this so consider yourself a local now!!
Also the carne asada is pretty darn good and is a great item to cook on the grill. This place honestly has a lot of great meat cuts for the barbeque so an overall great place to shop for meat and it’s not that far from the house, we love this place.

This place is a 12 minute walk from our house, assuming it’s not 115 degrees outside, in which case I would take the 1 minute drive. Here you will find excellent tamales and nachos with tons of cheese and jalapenos. If you have kids or if you’re a big kid they also have delicious ice slushes which are great during the summer months or all year round. They also carry locally grown fruits and vegetables. For the guys that are reading this, don’t tell your girl just surprise her with fresh flowers that L&G has on site, she’ll love them and you for it! The last and possibly best part about this place is that they have homemade burritos that you will love.

“Animal Style” burger of your choice with hand-leaf lettuce tomato, a mustard cooked beef patty, add pickle, extra spread/sauce, with grilled onions
“Animal Fries” – classic fries with the famous sauce, a slice of melted cheese and chopped grilled onions on top
“Roadkill Fries” this not recognized everywhere but if it is its an order of animal fries with a grilled burger sprinkled on top
“Gorilla Style Burger” is a burger with animal fries in the middle of it
