The four waterfalls walk in the Brecon Beacons is about 30 miles away form the barns, about an hours drive. Well worth a visit for amazing scenery and a great walk, one of the top places to visit in South Wales, and a personal favourite of ours. The Four Waterfalls walk is a captivating woodland walk exploring the Waterfall Country in the Brecon Beacons. As its name suggests, this circular walk lets you discover the four falls of Sgwd Clun-Gwyn, Sgwd Isaf Clun-Gwyn, Sgwd y Pannwr and Sgwd-yr-Eira. All different and unique in their own way, these cascades along the River Mellte enchant and delight with their roaring sounds and tumbling waters. The Four Waterfalls walk takes you through peaceful forest, rendered even more so by the soft bubbling sound of the falls. The circular walk is challenging and includes muddy paths, steep descents to and strenuous ascents from the cascades. The waterfalls are best enjoyed in spring or autumn when the falls are roaring and spectacular.

Llyn Llech Owain Country Park is an area of 73 Hectares (180 acres), managed for your enjoyment by Carmarthenshire County Council with nature trails, an adventure area including a cool wooden adventure playground, separate toddler playground with smaller features. A forest track provides a longer hike or bike ride around the country park and there's a rough mountain bike trail for the more adventurous cyclists amongst you! At the heart of the Country Park is the lake, which is surrounded by a peat bog. This rare habitat is designated a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI). Elsewhere are areas of heathland and broadleaved woodland, whilst areas of coniferous woodland are being cleared progressively and converted to heathland and broadleaved woodland. A network of footpaths provides for enjoyable walking. Many paths are well surfaced and accessible to wheelchair users. A specially constructed path allows safe access over the peat bog and around the lake. Located just 5 and half miles away from the barns, a short 15 minute drive. The country park is free entry, just pay to park your car for the day (£3.20 for 8 hours). It is dog friendly and there is a cafe and toilet facilities. A highly recommended day out.

Llansteffan Beach and Llansteffan Castle are around 25 miles, 40 minute drive from the barns. We love visiting here for and would highly recommend to any of our guests. The Llansteffan Beach is a beautiful beach for walkers and a great place to stop for a picnic with amazing views. Overlooking the beach on the headland is the stunning Llansteffan Castle, which also has breath-taking views across the estuary. The Llansteffan Castle stands on a small hill in the village of Llansteffan overlooking the Twyi estuary. The castle and the beach make for a really good day out. The castle is open at all times and there is no entry fee. The path to the castle is a long steep uneven path over a tiiny hill. There are no refreshments available at the castle, but during high season there is a cafe on the beach.
