Great food served beside the yachts. (Their kleftico is truly memorable - order in advance to be sure of a portion.) It is the second-last restaurant along the quayside. Kioni is a very pretty harbour village – not to be missed. Afterwards a drink in Spavento Bar or at their harbour side tables is lovely.

Wonderful, locally sourced food prepared in a stylish location. This is a place to dress up for, but always advance book. Recommended by the Guardian too! Situated near Homer's School on the road to Exoghi - about 12 mins drive from the cottage.

Family-friendly beach
Below Stavros Village, about 10 minutes from the house. Deckchairs, umbrellas, canoes, boats available for rental. Friendly, convivial, lovely taverna, (try the Calamari). It may seem at first glance to be commercial, but actually, very charming.

Turqoise clear water, white-pebbled beach
Turn left from house and take left turn downhill about 5 mins later on sharp corner. If you enjoy peacocks in the distance, white pebbles, turquoise sea. (Seawater is cooler here and beware of the current.)

The highest built settlement in Ithaki , Anogi is known for the beautiful church of Agia Panagia with its Byzantine frescoes and Venetian bell tower. Collect the key from Kafeneion Sofia next door, then sit down to cake and coffee, or a delicious meal!
