Family Fun
Irvine Regional is my favorite park. It is a $3 weekday or $5 weekend entry. Once there, they
have a train ride, horse rides, lakes
with pontoon rentals, bike rentals, playgrounds, amazing 400 year old trees, a real canon, a
zoo, food, hiking and walking trails, a fishing pond, and roaming peacocks. It can a be a full fun
day if you want to make it.

Irvine Regional Park
1 Irvine Park RdIrvine Regional is my favorite park. It is a $3 weekday or $5 weekend entry. Once there, they
have a train ride, horse rides, lakes
with pontoon rentals, bike rentals, playgrounds, amazing 400 year old trees, a real canon, a
zoo, food, hiking and walking trails, a fishing pond, and roaming peacocks. It can a be a full fun
day if you want to make it.
One of my favorite places to go is Crystal Cove. There’s a special little spot down there. You
park in the Trancos Parking Lot and walk down to the beach (it is a bit of a hike, about half a
mile but it really beautiful). Then you go down to the Beach cottages area. There is a stream,
beach, and some nice gardens. You can spend some nice time there and have lunch or dinner at
the Beachcomber or grab food from the Shake Shack up the steps on the hill above. I love this
area and I highly recommend it. Bear Flag Fish co is just down the street, so I recommend
stopping by and picking up some poke for dinner on your way home!

Beachcomber Cafe
15 Crystal CoveOne of my favorite places to go is Crystal Cove. There’s a special little spot down there. You
park in the Trancos Parking Lot and walk down to the beach (it is a bit of a hike, about half a
mile but it really beautiful). Then you go down to the Beach cottages area. There is a stream,
beach, and some nice gardens. You can spend some nice time there and have lunch or dinner at
the Beachcomber or grab food from the Shake Shack up the steps on the hill above. I love this
area and I highly recommend it. Bear Flag Fish co is just down the street, so I recommend
stopping by and picking up some poke for dinner on your way home!
Newport Beach and Balboa peninsula are a wonderful place to go. There are a lot of restaurants in the area as well as beaches on the ocean and bay sides. There
is also a children’s beach called Marina park and rentals for boats, kayaks, etc.

There are two piers on the Balboa Peninsula: Newport and Balboa. All are family friendly, though I recommend getting there early to snag an easy parking spot. There are a ton of restaurants near both piers, but I like the Newport Pier because of the gentle grade of sand for young children and the variety of walkable restaurants. I personally love Rockin’ Baja Lobster.

1 Newport PierThere are two piers on the Balboa Peninsula: Newport and Balboa. All are family friendly, though I recommend getting there early to snag an easy parking spot. There are a ton of restaurants near both piers, but I like the Newport Pier because of the gentle grade of sand for young children and the variety of walkable restaurants. I personally love Rockin’ Baja Lobster.

Back Bay View Park
This is another fun area. It’s a bit higher up the bay.

It also has a very family friendly beach with a playground, showers, and bathrooms. I recommend parking Glenneyre Parking structure and walking down a small hill to the beach itself.

This is walking distance from the house! Bring a change of clothes for the kids because they will want to get wet! And it’s free!

Sightseeing
This is an amazing beach and place to go, but the rocks are precarious and I don’t recommend going with small kids or others who would have trouble traversing slippery rocks without help. If you want to see the cave, make sure to go at low tide, be wary of slippery rocks and use caution. That being said, for those who like a bit of adventure it can be amazing if you go at the right time.
