Height of Land
Maine 17Height of Land is an unbelievably scenic drive! Holy moly, if you want to see some amazing foliage in the fall, this is it! It's a 2 hour drive up to Rangeley and then another 2 hour drive back to Little Moose Point. It's well worth dedicating a full day for this trip and just wait until you drive through Grafton Notch on your way back. Wow!

Pondicherry Park is a 66 acre park in the center of Bridgton's downtown, it offers a 2.3 mile trail network. Trails follow the Stevens and Willet Brooks and overgrown pastures. There are two bridges to see, one a 60' covered bridge at the main entrance off Depot Street. Dogs are allowed only on the designated trails and they must be leashed. It's a great spot to go snowshoeing too! It's only a 10 minute drive away.

Emerald Pool is one of those can't miss excursions! It's only a 30 minute drive and will be an amazing experience you'll go home telling everyone about.
In years past, this pool was notorious for being clothing-optional, but there are just too many people aware of its existence these days. The Baldface Circle Trail is now very well traveled throughout the spring, summer and fall, and so Emerald Pool is no longer far off the beaten path.
What draws many visitors to this hot spot is not the nice falls slicing their way down through the jagged rocks, but instead the beautiful and green 10-12 foot deep pool for cooling off on a hot day. It is one of two spectacular swimming holes in Evans Notch (the other being Rattlesnake Pool). This place holds a special place in many hearts, and when you feast your eyes on this tempting pool, it will probably win you over as well.
The best way to enjoy a swim in Emerald Pool is to take a dip after you hike the 9.8-mile loop over the two mountain peaks known as the Baldfaces. This difficult hike is one of New England's finest loops, but it should only be done in good weather conditions and when the slabs on South Baldface are likely to be dry and free of ice.
You can also take a direct route right to Emerald Pool from the main road and it's only about a 20-30 minute easy hike in. Very doable with children.

Moose Pond is the lake that our Guest House is located on and reaches 3 towns- Bridgton, Sweden and Denmark. It passes by the foot of the Pleasant Mountain range and is a favorite spot for many anglers, boaters and swimmers. The lake is 13 miles long, 1,697 acres, and it's max depth is 80 feet. Moose Pond is divided into three distinct basins separated by two causeways that you can drive your boat/paddle under to get to each. The upper and lower basins are the best for kayaking, padddleboarding and fishing as they are incredibly calm most days. The middle basin is great for boating, jet skiing and tubing. The upper and lower basins both experience low dissolved oxygen concentrations in the deeper waters, which provides little habitat for coldwater fish species. Although oxygen depletion often limits summer habitat, the middle basin is managed primarily for landlocked salmon and lake trout. The pond also supports populations of largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, yellow perch, white perch, chain pickerel, hornpout, rainbow smelt, white sucker, fallfish, golden shiners, pumpkinseed sunfish and slimy sculpin.
