Mukteshwar is a popular tourist spot and known for its beautiful scenic views of the Himalayas and its other ranges. This hill station is popular for the Mukteshwar Temple which got its name from a 350-year-old Lord Shiva’s temple, Mukteshwar Dham. The temple is located at an altitude of 2315m and is reached through an interesting trek amidst trees with few steps and sitting areas in between.

The famous Temple of Chitai Almora is the Golu Devta Chitai temple, dedicated to Gollu or Goljyu Devta an Avtar (incarnation) of Lord Shiva in the form of Gaur Bhairav. Although there are many temples of Golu Devta in Almora, the Chitai Golu Devta Temple is the most sacred one. It is reputed to make every wish come true, provided the worshipper asks for it with a clear conscience.
