This restaurant offers classic Indian curries, tandoori & a lunch buffet, are served in this white-tablecloth eatery. From the outside, it doesn’t look anything, but inside is very nice.

They specialize in seafood. It is a water front restaurant with a live music and I do love to go there sometimes. You can feed birds outside the restaurant. If you have a boat, you can go from the marina down the street from my house and dock it at the restaurant for free.

This café is located in the heart of Historic Old Town Occoquan. Built in 1840. It was a home to many families over the years until it was finally sold and converted into a café. From the road, you can’t tell that it is a café. There is a stairs that lead up to the café, so make sure you find the sign on the Mills Street in Occoquan. They have many unique menu items and it is one of my favorite.

I love this very cute tea café where woman and girls could congregate. Some costumes are available at the front and you can pretend that you are invited by the Queen of England. When you order a tea set, it comes with some finger food which fills you up as lunch. It only open on weekends and reservation is recommended. Saturday: 11:00 am- 4:00 pm; Sunday: 12:30 pm -4:00 pm

Parks & Nature
This is a beautiful park which is down the street from my house. It has a picnic area by the Potomac river and offers many walk ways and nature walks. Very nice for a family and a couple.

It is down the street from my house. This marina offers a restaurant and kayak for fee. It is a very nice quiet place where you can enjoy watching many birds and a choo choo train passing once in a while. You can bring bread to feed birds. It is good for family or a couple just spend some time together.

For families with younger kids, they have a nice playground, the nature center has animals and is indoors for very rainy days, staff on call to ask questions to, and for people of all ages, gorgeous trails. You can book a party room for some occasions such as a birthday party. The party room is very large, making it easy to easily host larger groups (we had 25 kids and 20 adults), they offer tables and chairs and two activities led by their staff: we chose an animal talk where kids learned about 4 animals and had an opportunity to ask questions/ touch a couple of them. We also chose pond netting which the kids love

Many people don’t know about the National Museum of the Marine Corps which is a lasting tribute to U.S. Marines - past, present, and future. It is situated on a 135-acre site adjacent to Marine Corps Base Quantico, Virginia. The Museum's soaring design evokes the image of the flag-raisers of Iwo Jima and beckons visitors to this 120,000-square-foot structure. World-class interactive exhibits using the most innovative technology surround visitors with irreplaceable artifacts and immerse them in the sights and sounds of Marines in action which are very suited for children and adults. Admission and parking are free.

This is not a very big place but there are four beams from the World Trade Center, laid out as they believe they landed. The 911 Memorial is hard to miss as it sits right outside the County Government buildings. There is a small sign there explaining the purpose behind the memorial. It is a lovely place and a fitting tribute.

1 County Complex CtThis is not a very big place but there are four beams from the World Trade Center, laid out as they believe they landed. The 911 Memorial is hard to miss as it sits right outside the County Government buildings. There is a small sign there explaining the purpose behind the memorial. It is a lovely place and a fitting tribute.

The Workhouse Arts Center, once a former prison, is now a flourishing arts community that is home to over 100 of the finest regional artists, with a rich local and national history. It has a beautiful campus open year round to the public, with eight artist studio buildings, two main galleries, a prison museum, café, gift shop, art supply store, new Youth Arts Center and W-3 Theatre. I sometimes go there to take a dance class which is only offered once a month.

Quite a collection of stuff about the town of Occoquan, and some real oddities. Take you about 5 - 15 minutes, so you can combine this visit with the newly opened park next door or with some shopping.
Gunston Hall Plantation was the home of George Mason, a senior statesman and author of Virginia's Declaration of Rights. I toured Gunston Hall on a beautiful fall day and had a wonderful time. I was the only person there for an afternoon tour, so I got a private tour. The guide was extremely friendly and knowledgeable and was able to answer all my questions. In addition to the main house (much of which was original), there were many outbuildings on the grounds which were fun to explore.

Starting off as 2,000 acre plantation built in 1800, the house went through a number of interesting owners before becoming the first site of the National Trust for Historic Preservation. 2. Frank Lloyd Wright is practically a household name these days, but this small Usonian house was a unique design of his. Originally built in 1940 in Falls Church, VA; this house is a true example of preservation-in-action!
