While Edgar Allan Poe never actually lived in this home, it was a historically appropriate place to move items from the Southern Literary Messenger building (where Poe began his writing career) when it was slated to be torn down by the city, circa 1905. Though Poe went on to write in major cities, his hometown was Richmond, and so it made sense to erect the first monument in his honor here. Location: 1914 E Main St

Just down the road in Forst Hill Park we have the south of the James Market. This is only on Sundays There are lots of food trucks and other vendors. However, you cant head there without getting a bagel or a donut! The Kitchenette is a cute food truck that sells bagels from Cupertino’s - make sure you get “the works”- bagel, cream cheese, capers, diced red onion and tomatoes, local microgreens and salt and pepper! If you’re in the mood for something on the sweeter side, head over to the other side to Mrs. Yoder’s Donuts. They are large sourdough melt in your mouth donuts. 10/10 recommend either! The affordable, approachable menu of American fare at City Beach (like burgers, tacos, and more) pairs perfectly with beer and sports! The owners here are huge fans of hockey in particular, but you can pretty much plan to come here for any game you're interested in watching. Just ask the bartender if they’re able to put it on one of the many TVs, if it’s not on already. Location: 2416 W Cary St (Carytown)
As the name suggests, Home Team Grill is a sports bar first. With over a dozen TVs, tons of high-top tables, a large patio, and bucket specials, it’s a popular spot for sports fans of all kinds. Be prepared for standing-room-only as large crowds gather around the bar during football games on Sunday but it only adds to the excitement!
