And for the history and train buffs the restaurant is located in the original Vallemar depot for the Ocean Shore Railroad which operated from 1905 until 1921. Be sure to take the Little Butano Creek trail to see the redwoods and ferns. The trail is only a 1.5 miles hike, and keep your eyes peeled for the bright yellow banana slugs and the California newts.

There is a spectacular aquarium, living roof, rain forest room with butterflies, birds, and plants, and the amazing planetarium (largest all-digital dome in the world). This is a must visit for the Bay Area - absolutely something for everyone. Don't forget to say hi to Claude, the albino alligator. There is a parking garage under the museum in Golden Gate Park.
