Great place to visit for a day or two-day visit outside of Athens. Daily ferries available from the port of Piraieus. What's interesting in Hydra is that cars are not allowed. The island played an important role during the Greek war of independence.

Can be visited in one day (earliest boat is around 7am and latest 9:30-11pm depending on the days - hours to be double-checked online since they change) but needs more time to be properly visited. Not the most iconic island but is home to many artists, and secret spots. A personal favorite. Famous spots: Temple of Aphaia; hill with dozens of old churches.
