Edna

Edna is my favorite restaurant in Nova Scotia. The menu has something for everyone. It also has a wonderful brunch that suits many people's diets. I love the PEI-sourced steak, while others enjoy the fresh oysters, mussels with fries, and lovely soups. In my opinion, it is the best steak I have had in Nova Scotia. I get the steak every time I am in town and always return to this restaurant each time I visit.

Edna is my favorite restaurant in Nova Scotia. The menu has something for everyone. It also has a wonderful brunch that suits many people's diets. I love the PEI-sourced steak, while others enjoy the fresh oysters, mussels with fries, and lovely soups. In my opinion, it is the best steak I have had in Nova Scotia. I get the steak every time I am in town and always return to this restaurant each time I visit.

Jiggs Take-Out

Jigg's is a good choice to have a snack or meal when driving to or from the cottage on the way to Halifax. I like the zucchini fries and the baked, plain wings with hot sauce on the side. I have not had anything else on the menu, but the menu has fries, hamburgers, and sandwiches. With an ice cream menu, it is very popular with local families, particularly after children's sporting events. It is located on the water and has a covered patio deck. Guests can pull up their car just nearby the ordering window and wait for their order to be called out in their car if they like. There is a clean unisex, single room bathroom that faces the street, so parents can watch their children enter and exit.

Jigg's is a good choice to have a snack or meal when driving to or from the cottage on the way to Halifax. I like the zucchini fries and the baked, plain wings with hot sauce on the side. I have not had anything else on the menu, but the menu has fries, hamburgers, and sandwiches. With an ice cream menu, it is very popular with local families, particularly after children's sporting events. It is located on the water and has a covered patio deck. There are both fried and fresh recipes on the menu. The breakfast menu has a variety of omelettes. There is a sunny rooftop seating area where guests can enjoy their meals if the weather permits. Sometimes, there is live music in the bar upstairs; please check local listings. The restaurant can become crowded if a cruise ship is also in port. Take out is available.

There is a gift store, where guests can taste various types of maple syrup and purchase their own. There is light maple syrup from Sugar Moon Farm at Explorer's Cottage.

There is also a restaurant upstairs with similar dishes, as well as other entrees, as well as a separate pub that features fish and chips and hamburgers. I do not really go to the pub or restaurant upstairs, but do enjoy just going once a year to the outdoor cafe next to the golf green. The cafe is frequented by mainly golfers; it is, however, a nice quiet spot to enjoy a peaceful lunch or drink with family or a friend.

I have not tried the baked goods, but they are legendary among locals, who regularly buy enough to stock up in their freezer, which causes the baked goods to sell out very often. The restaurant is set in the woods just off the highway.

I obtain take out from this establishment often, and the hosts are always very kind. When there is live music, I have the feeling that it is packed with just locals. Therefore, this restaurant attracts both those visiting and has a loyal local following, as well.

This restaurant is attached to the casino in Membertou, which is a busy indigenous reservation. The restaurant offers a wonderful selection of well-made entrees. I have mainly had the steak and salad options, but my guests have had a wide range of items off the menu and have enjoyed themselves. When there is live music, I have the feeling that it is packed with just locals. Therefore, this restaurant attracts both those visiting and has a loyal local following, as well.

While I do not usually like pizza, I did try the pizza here twice, and it is very good! This place is the last to close in the village of Baddeck, and it closes at 11 pm. The pizzas are all made fresh in front of customers. There are a wide range of sizes and toppings, as well, and thick or thin crust. The atmosphere inside is very fun and lively and great for groups and families. Parking is usually available on the street in the evenings or in a parking lot next door. Both outdoor and indoor seating are available.

The atmosphere inside is very fun and lively and great for groups and families. Parking is usually available on the street in the evenings or in a parking lot next door. Both outdoor and indoor seating are available.

I recommend the Campfire Trout from this restaurant. I order this locally caught fish without the sauce and with vegetables. There are many French-influenced dishes on this menu that feature seafood in white sauces or other savory sauce based dishes.

The Cedar House is a local eatery that has a diner feeling. The interior is a little like a 70s time capsule, so it is interesting to visit. Everyone is very kind and nice, and locals from the Boularderie Island work in this establishment. The food ranges from sandwiches, hamburgers, and fish and chips to fresh grilled Haddock. I think that most people will be able to find something that would fit their diet on the menu. There are also huge homemade pies and cakes, extensive baked goods, and coffee. Guests may also just stop in for Strawberry, Vanilla, and Chocolate ice cream in a cone or cup without actually sitting down for a meal. I have only had the Haddock, and it was very fresh.

It is an older establishment, but I think that the kitchen is very clean, and I have always had a good experience there. I have ordered a simple grilled Haddock as take out, and it was very good and everyone was very kind. There is live local music at times

The menu has a lobster supper, fried cod fish and chips, sandwiches, some salads, and hamburgers. It is an older establishment, but I think that the kitchen is very clean, and I have always had a good experience there. I have ordered a simple grilled Haddock as take out, and it was very good and everyone was very kind. There is live local music at times

I am always surprised that this restaurant is not more crowded, since it is one of my favorites in Halifax. The seafood is always very fresh and there are unusual options and unusual recipes, from local to international options. I have enjoyed a traditional, seasonal South American seafood soup at this establishment, the freshest oysters, a crab salad inside an avocado that is a staple on their menu, and half of a chilled small lobster. I would highly recommend this restaurant. You may need to cough or otherwise draw attention to yourself when you walk in, as it is often not very populated. The servers are also just wonderful here.
