Looking for a bite to eat or just want to check out the local fare? Cox Country Club is open Thursday - Friday for dinner and Saturday - Sunday for lunch and dinner. The food is simple, the staff are friendly and the locals are an eclectic bunch.
Sometimes there is live music and there is always beer.

The club is just a 10 minute stroll from the lodge and if you're weary the community bus will take you home free of charge.

Wandering down to the beach to watch the sun set (or rise) is an absolute must. Guaranteed a spectacular scene every day, if you are early to rise you'll have the beach to yourself and if you prefer the setting sun you are sure to meet some friendly locals.

No need to go all the way to Litchfield to see termite mounds. We have our own right here in our back yard. If you have a car you can easily visit the termite mounds. If not we are happy to take you on a tour. Be sure to ask us for details either way. It's one of the wonders of Wagait Beach and an experience you will take with you for ever

Berry Springs Nature reserve is on the Cox Peninsular Road, near Berry Springs. While it is 40 minutes drive from the lodge, you will pass it on your way here by car and is well worth stopping off for a swim either on the way in or the way out. The warm springs are seasonal and are usually open May - October depending on the rain. As well as a huge swimming hole, the nature reserve has parklands and a basic kiosk where you can hire a noodle if they are open.

If you catch the ferry from Darwin this is where you disembark. The jetty is well worth a visit if you enjoy fishing and it's not uncommon to see people pulling in huge fish here. A popular fishing spot for locals and visitors alike and a great way to view Darwin city from afar.

We are a small community in a pretty remote town. Wave, say g'day and you will always be welcomed.

Loose, comfortable clothing
Leave your stilettos at home. We live in a tropical, humid climate. Dress for comfort and function, not fashion. We recommend a sarong, loose, light clothing with long sleeves for protection from the sun and mosquitos. A hat and sunnies are a must and flip flops protect your feet from the hot sand.

Buy your food in town
While we do have a local shop, it is expensive since we are remote. We recommend you do your shopping in Darwin if you are coming on the ferry or Coolalinga if you are driving.

It's an easy walk
From the lodge you can easily walk to the beach and to the Cox Country Club. The best time of day for walking is morning and late afternoon/evening. The shop is approx 15 minute walk.

Protect our beaches
Our peninsula is surrounded by untouched and rarely explored beaches. The sand dunes are turtle nesting areas and you will often spot turtle tracks on an early morning beach walk. We do ask that you take care around the dunes with turtle nesting in mind and never take vehicles on to the beach. There are plenty of access points to park your car and enjoy a barefoot stroll along the waters edge.
