This is a lovely place to walk near the Thames River in New London. The old fort is self-touring and quite interesting for those of us who enjoy historical sites.

This is another very interesting historical fort to self-tour. The monument is lovely.

This is a very good maritime museum. The admission is high but if you really love this area of study, it's well worth it. Plan to spend the entire day to really absorb the info. The summer is best.

Watch the big machine turn out batch after batch of yummy pasta! This place has been one of my favorites since I lived in Groton in the 80s. Be sure to try the Peanut Butter Pie!

I adore this lovely diner that used to be located in South Windham CT. The food is great, portions large, prices and service great. If you find yourself in that part of the state, I recommend it!

I LOVE the sandwiches on this menu! They offer some AMAZING chicken options for those who limit beef intake for any reason. Though it's tempting to eat a whole sandwich, one's plenty for 2 to share.

One of only 2 places in CT that I go for doughnuts. This is the one closest to home. Their offerings are the best I've ever eaten. The coffee isn't as good as I'll serve you but it's respectable.

This is the other place I love to buy doughnuts. If you're headed south on I95, it's worth going 5 minutes out of your way.

This is a nice Irish pub with a lovely rooftop for summer enjoyment. I love the Cottage Fries with a leek dipping sauce and they'll sub them into the fish & chips.

This is a FUN place to use the batting cages then enjoy a hot dog and ice cream before a game at Dodd Stadium. I haven't tried breakfast but I hear it's good.

This is a lovely store with a great bakery section. It offers a nice area to enjoy a sandwich, salad, seafood dinner or pizza. With free Wi-Fi, I sometimes work on my laptop over lunch there.
