It has the only place to see Giant Pandas as well as penguins, giraffes, lions and tigers
The easiest way to get there is via a small lane opposite Carrick Knowe Avenue where Traquair Park West turns into Traquair Park East. If you leave the house and turn right the lane is a couple of minutes along our street on the left. The zoo should be sign post from here but you will pass a car park on your left and a large office building on your right and up some small steps to the main road, you then turn right and the zoo is across the road at a pedestrian crossing.

Fantastic park (accessible by nice walk down the nearby Old railway line) with huge range of swings, climbing frames as well as the largest skatepark in Scotland.
The recently refurbished walled garden has a nearby cafe with an excellent range of food and drinks.

Once you reach Balgreen team stop turn left down the hill and cross the road to go through a small tunnel. You should then see the park up ahead on the other side of the road and there are several sets of pedestrian crossings to get you there safely.
If you decide to drive there are 2 car parks, a small and often busy one by the skate park or a larger one on the other side called "Ford's Roadcar Park".

Activities for Children
The soft play is a great rainy day activity.
The adventure park itself is fun with bouncing jelly beans, pedal go-karts and a decent play park etc.
However the adjoining soft play is the real draw if you happen to get a rainy day or just want a couple of hours for children to run wild.
The tickets are separate for adventure park and soft play so decide which would suit you best.
Booking is required and you need to select a time slot. There is ample parking on site but is probably only easily accessible with a car.

It is a bit further away but East Lothian is also a beautiful area and worth a visit. Definitely needs a car to visit and should take around 40 mins by car.

East Links Family Park
Great day outwith children. With a small petting farm, where you can feed donkeys, sheep and llamas; a musical maze in a small wooded area; a small train that tours around the park; an amazing Fort and great adventure playground.
This is one of our favourite places to visit with our 5 and 3 year old though we have been with older children too as it has a good range of equipment in the park.

Busses into town
Regular buses run into town from the bus stop on St John's Road opposite the entrance to Station Road. It's 5 minutes walk or less to this bus stop and the Lothian buses, 12, 26 and 31 all go into town. The easiest way to pay is using contactless card payment. You can pay for children and group tickets this way as long as you tell the driver first.
Children under 5 travel free. If you prefer to pay with cash you need exact change as buses don't give change.

Trams into town and to the airport
If you would like to travel by tram the closest stop is Balgreen.
