Close to downtown Boothbay Harbor is Barrett’s Park, a wonderful spot featuring beautiful bayfront views. At this park, visitors experience two rocky beaches that overlook Linekin Bay. We think Barrett’s Park is the perfect place to spend time with family or enjoy a picnic! This is a rocky beach, like most in the area, so bring your swim shoes :)

Grimes Cove Beach is one of Boothbay Harbor’s best-kept secrets! It’s located at the tip of Ocean Point in East Boothbay, just 17 minutes away from Linekin Bay Resort. Many associate Ocean Point with crashing waves and craggy shores, but Grimes Cove is different. Here, waters are generally calm and perfect for swimming! On stormy days, the water can get choppy, but worry not. Grimes Cove offers access to a public trail where visitors can take in a stunning view of the ocean (which is especially beautiful at sunset)! This beach also features a boat launch. For those who plan on boating in Maine, we recommend taking advantage of this pebbly beach. Be sure to grab breakfast or lunch at the East Boothbay General Store, which is an eight-minute drive away!

Pemaquid Beach State Park is not technically in Boothbay Harbor, (50 min drive north) but it still provides stunning views, great swimming, and handy rental equipment like chairs and toys. This beach is also ideal for lighthouse lovers; be sure to snap a picture of the Pemaquid Point Lighthouse! We think it’s one of the best state parks near Boothbay Harbor!

Just four miles north of Boothbay Harbor is Knickerbocker Lake. This freshwater beach offers plenty of opportunities for kayaking, canoeing, and even swimming. Knickerbocker Lake Public Access, owned by the town of Boothbay, is a carry-in site to 105-acre freshwater Knickerbocker Pond. The carry to the lake is less than 100 yards long and is a wide, gravel path with portions covered in wood chips. There is a nice, shallow beach area and floating dock on-site for easy access by a canoe or kayak. The launch site is a popular swimming spot. After a day at Knickerbocker Lake, be sure to check out the Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens, a popular attraction that’s on the way back to Southport, one of the best places to visit on the Maine coast.
