Our house roast, "Happy Larry," is named after our co-owner himself, Larry Adams. This mild breakfast blend is specialty-roasted for Lava Java, and we are the proud, sole retailer. Try it and you'll be feeling happy, too!
The other roaster that we source from is Mud Coffee, located in NYC....where our owner, Brook, got her start in the coffee business! Lava Java is the only seller of Mud in the state of New Jersey. We use this delicious dark roast for our iced coffee, and brew a hot pot early in morning during the week.

Lavallette's bay beaches
Many people with younger children prefer the gentler bay waters and shoreline of Barnegat Bay. There are two pay-to-play bay beaches in Lavallette, both of which are guarded by lifeguards during the summer season. You do need beach badges to be there when the lifeguards are on duty, provided you are 12 or older. You can find out all about the lifeguard dates/hours of operation and also all about beach badges at the Lavallette beach webpage.
There are two stretches of bay beach located off of Bay Boulevard that are designated for swimming. One is at the end of Reese Ave and the other is at the end of Washington Ave.

Beach Safety
Lifeguards guard both ocean and bay beaches in Lavallette. They are trained to recognize dangerous water conditions and they use this knowledge to make decisions about where people should and should not swim. Since it is easier to keep you out of danger than trying to save you, you should pay attention to any warnings or directions the lifeguards provide. If you go swimming when the lifeguards are not on the beach - off season or during off hours in the summer - you need to be careful. You should know about riptides and what to do if you find yourself caught in one.

Saltwater Fishing Registry
Everyone 16 or older must register and carry the printed registration with them when fishing.
All saltwater anglers and for-hire vessel operators will now be able to register through the no-fee State system rather than the fee-based federal system. Anglers still must register with the state system even if they have already registered with the federal system.
Those who fish from a for-hire party or charter fishing vessel that is registered with the New Jersey Saltwater Recreational Registry Program are not required to file for an individual registration.

Stop for pedestrians in the crosswalks!
The driver of a vehicle must stop and stay stopped for a pedestrian crossing the roadway within any marked crosswalk, but shall yield the right-of-way to a pedestrian crossing the roadway within an unmarked crosswalk at an intersection, except at crosswalks when the movement of traffic is being regulated by police officers or traffic control signals.

Beach Badges
2022 Season badges are available for $60 for the season and $20 for seniors. Veterans, Disabled Vets and Active Military can acquire a badge with a copy of their Military ID at no charge.
Disabled Persons can purchase a badge with a copy of their Disability ID for $15.00.
Pickup location: The badge office will be open from 9am to 4pm 7 days a week..
Starting June 1, 2022 preorder pickups and all sales will be at the Badge Office (corner of Baltimore & Jersey City Ave).
