Crossnore School is a residential school for orphaned children that has now opened up to other children in the surrounding community. The coffee shop is run by the students. Pick through the second hand shop that is on the school grounds and visit the looming room and witness artists hand making amazing scarves and capes with their looms.

If I were abandoned on a deserted isle and had one food to live off of for the rest of my life I would choose their lemon-blueberry bread. Yummo!

Mountain Crossing Mercantile is the race start for The Scream 1/2 Marathon and The Peak to Creek Marathon (which is among the top 10 courses to qualify for the Boston Marathon!)
