From its inception among indigenous people to the dark delicious bars we see today, so much work goes into making just one piece. I am beyond thankful that I could visit botanica chocolate today and experience something so magical. My appreciation for chocolate making has gone up 10000% since today. Swipe to see:

3) Ground and shelled cacao seeds
4) A very bitter chocolate drink with 100% cacao and no sugar, holy moly

This is a really nice place to sit and enjoy the covered outdoor-seated area. You can tell that the workers care about the craft of brewing good coffee as each time I went, they explained the different menu items in detail. My favorite drink that I tried was the Henry Blend. It was a nice mix of coffee and tea. Plus this place is super Instagram worthy. Cash and card was accepted at this location, which was nice. Would recommend this place to the coffee enthusiast”

We went to this farm last year, we are a family of 5. My wife and I and 3 kids: 10, 14 and 16. The trip from San José can take one hour or more depending on traffic, but most of the trip you have nice views of the mountains and the central valley. This farm is close to Volcan Poas, but this is worth another separate day trip. The tour in the farm is great. They take you around the farm in an adapted agricultural truck that is even a plus during the visit. The main attractions are the organic strawberry plantation, which they explain very well and you even have the opportunity to hand pick a few, and the dairy farm in which you can even milk a cow. Besides that, you can walk through the cloud forest and also get an explanation of the cheese making process. Overall, this was a great day trip for our family”.
