The walkway passes historic military buildings, with spectacular views of the city, New Brighton Beach and on a clear day the Southern Alps. Make sure you keep your eyes out to sea and on the rocks below - you may spot a seal, dolphin or even a whale.
This is a great dog park if you have a pet with you, but they also have a truly wonderful picnic area (where dogs are not allowed) that's perfect for a sunny day. It can get quite busy here in the weekends.

Head over the Port Hills to Lyttelton and enjoy a coffee or lunch in one of the funky cafes. There are also some quaint little shops and a market on Saturdays from 10am-1pm. Take the 10min ferry (departs every hour, approx. $12 return) across to Diamond Harbour for beautiful views.

Known as the Cardboard Cathedral, it is a temporary Cathedral that was opened in August 2013. Materials used include 60-centimetre diameter cardboard tubes, hence the name. Eight shipping containers form the walls.
