Cambria Dog Park
2021 Rodeo Grounds RdThis preserve stretches through most of Cambria. From the property you can take the Ramsey Trail to the Santa Rosa Creek trail. Turn right to go to the dog park, go straight and cross Highway 1 to enter the preserve at the Creek to Forest trail. Google maps is a great place to set your course and see all the trails available.

Dog Friendly!! A great way to take in the coastal views at sunset, this is also a dog friendly trail! About 2 miles, you can find the trailhead on the left next to the hotel on Moonstone Beach Drive.

The elephant seals are famous on the central coast. I could spend hours watching these giant sea creatures. The rookery has docents ready to answer all of your questions. great place to take the family and it's on the way to Big Sur.

Pet friendly and never super crowded. Plenty of parking and picnic areas. There is a “secret” trail pretty popular with the locals:
Head down the beach toward the Hearst Ranch Winery (past the pier) and look out for a sandy trail that heads up into the tree line. This is the San Simeon Point Trail. If you only have time to fit in one good hike, this is my favorite. It lifts up into the trees with incredible views of the beach and ocean and then snakes into a forest of Monterey pines that have formed a tunnel like trail. Lots of exploring to be had here, about 4 miles out and back depending on how far you go. Not crowded.

William Randolph Hearst Memorial Beach

Head down the beach toward the Hearst Ranch Winery (past the pier) and look out for a sandy trail that heads up into the tree line. This is the San Simeon Point Trail. If you only have time to fit in one good hike, this is my favorite. Lots of exploring to be had here, about 4 miles out and back depending on how far you go. Not crowded.
Dog friendly! We call this place “Secret Beach”. It’s not a secret, but it has limited parking so it is rarely crowded. Head here during the week and you may get the whole place to yourself! Great scenery and a nice stop before the Ragged Point Inn.

Dog friendly and a great place for bird watching. Morro Bay is a designated bird sanctuary. You’ll see an incredible variety of migratory and local birds and even get in a hike on the boardwalk around the tiny marina or along the beach just down the way from the campground

The town of Harmony has a population of 18. The winery has gorgeous views of the hills and their resident bovine. They offer yoga and a glass of wine in the summer months and have live music on certain nights of the week. Great wines and only 2 miles from you!

Donated to the parks in the 50s, Mr. Hurst built this place to share with all. You are only 10 minutes away! Plan to spend at least half a day here. During the spring and summer they also offer night tours.
