Designed as an elementary school by FLLW in honor of his mother who was a school teacher. Well worth the 5 minute drive. Drive up the circular, gravel driveway. Park along the grass. Hop out of your car and take a look. Might be hosting an event, such as an art exhibit or educational programming.

Wisconsin Cheese - need I say more. Cedar Grove cheese factory outside of Plain produces award winning, organic cheese. Tour the cheese making facility, buy some cheese on site, then order some to ship to your closest friends. You'll make BFF (Best-Friends-Forever.) Back in my day, a cheese factory tour was part of our 4th grade curriculum - that and a test on how it is made. Fresh curds should squeak when chewed - that's my test.

Bargain Nook III is located in the old Post Office on the corner of S. Washington and E. Jefferson. More than just clothing, there are lots of odds and ends, some never used, including a decent selection of Land's End returns already monogramed for someone else. For awhile I carried around my stuff in a nice canvas bag, purchased at Bargain Nook II (It burned down.) that once belonged to someone named "Amy." I recently scored a used chair here for $35. Anxious to get it home, I shoveled it into my hatchback. A few mishaps later, it survived the trip with only one broken leg that I fixed with Gorilla Glue.

Arthur's is out on Highway 14, north of town. Joel, the bartender, is a pro. Steaks are good. Decor is a mix of Frank Lloyd Wright style and Knights of the Round Table. Classic Wisconsin Supper Club.
My personal favorite Supper Club. The drive from my house is gorgeous, about 20 minutes via the back roads toward Ridgeway, through Hyde. Nightly specials, great steaks, well stocked salad bar, good bar. The chef is excellent. Friendly service.

If you're driving to our place from Madison, you can stop at the Piggly Wiggly off Highway 14 in Cross Plains to stock up. Be mindful that you'll only have a mini-fridge available. Red wine needs no refrigeration. Refrigerate the curds.

Preferred gas station between Spring Green and Madison. Why, you ask? The egg rolls inside the well stocked convenience store are to die for. Another place to stop for groceries on your way to our place. Mazo doesn't have a grocery store. This gas station helps fill that void. Nice owner too.
