Do you like cake (or cupcakes?) This is the best cake shop in town. Check their Insta to get a sense. They are located on Airport Way. Located in the very hip Georgetown neighborhood - lots of galleries, restaurants, breweries, etc.

I specifically recommend their happy hour - it's the reason to go and it's a great value. The best part is that it includes 50% off all food items on their bar menu. I recommend the Polpo grigliato (Grilled Mediterranean Octopus). Perfect for a late afternoon snack, light dinner, or appetizer. https://www.cinqueterreseattle.com/happy-hour

Classy Vietnamese fusion spot on Capitol Hill. I haven't been for a few years, but have loved it in the past, and still hear great things.

This is a very classic seafood spot in Seattle. A bit touristy, but always fun. It's situated water front on South Lake Union.

From Seattle Eater: This Ballard bar and kitchen is led by Elisabeth Kenyon, previously of Manolin, who crafts an assortment of Sri Lankan and South Indian snacks like egg rolls stuffed with lamb and potato curry, tomato, and curry leaf, and yogurt-marinated spiced fried chicken. The cocktail menu includes South Asian ingredients like toasted coriander seeds, turmeric, and tamarind date chutney. The bar won a James Beard award for best design for restaurants with under 75 seats in 2020.

From Seattle Eater: The distinct cultures of India, Nepal, and Tibet reverberate throughout this Capitol Hill restaurant and its Himalayan and Nepalese curries. Chef Roshita Shrestha grew up in Nepal, and momos (Nepalese and Tibetan dumplings) are a highlight of the menu, with spinach and chicken versions served with peanut, sesame, and tomato chutneys.

This place has a few locations now - with spots in U District and Capitol hill too. It's known for its modern Vietnamese cuisine mixed with local PNW ingredients.

This is a local favorite for more upscale Italian. From Seattle Eater: More than 10 years in, and this romantic trattoria on Capitol Hill continues to entrance diners with food from Italy’s Piedmont region. The nest of delicate tajarin pasta with butter and sage sauce is a Seattle comfort food mainstay, but every pasta dish from chef Stuart Lane — including the agnolotti stuffed with braised rabbit — is memorable. Those who want to extend their meals should head over to sibling apertivo bar Artusi for a nice nightcap.

Super fun underground speakeasy in the Amazon Spheres. I recommend arriving early and putting in your name or be prepared to wait a little bit. Note that this is NOT a dive bar, The cocktails are on the pricey side, but they're wonderful.

Haven't been yet, but this is place has been getting rave critical reviews for a while and it's near the top of my list for places to try. This spot is located in Beacon Hill, which is a little further, but possibly worth the trip or a place to stop if you're headed in that direction.

From Seattle Eater: After building a strong following as a pop-up inside Fremont’s Pomerol, the contemporary Indian tasting menu specialist Meesha became a full-fledged restaurant in 2020. Among some of the can’t-miss dishes from chef Preeti Agarwal are rarah keema pao with expertly prepared ground lamb, the fried Amritsari fish, and the paneer in tomato sauce with black cardamom. Takeout is still an option, but the lively dining room and patio are also open for business.

This has been a long-time favorite of mine and has gotten a lot of recent acclaim from critics too. From Seattle Eather: James Beard Award-nominated chef Rachel Yang and partner Seif Chirchi offer simple but refined dishes at their Korean-influenced Fremont restaurant, including a smoked mackerel kedgeree and a famed kalbi short rib over grilled kimchi. Expect inventive dishes too, like smoked tofu or beef tartare with Asian pear and pine nuts. With an inviting, open space and easy-going service, Joule offers a special night out sans pretension. Sit at the bar and watch chefs plating dishes, and sip on one of Joule’s creative cocktails, like the lapsang souchong tequila drink with lime and Thai chili agave.

Canlis is an institution. It's very high end (there is a dress code) and where the locals go to celebrate very special occasions and enjoy the beautiful view. It's pricey, but a fun hack is to go for a cocktail and appetizer and sit in the lounge area. It's beautiful.

Brunch Spots

From Eater: This Ballard favorite’s brunch menu has a variety of more all-day fare dinner items (hearty salads, roasted veggies, pizzas), along with breakfast food. Standouts include the dutch baby, served in a cast iron pan and topped with orange chili agrodolce and the grilled porchetta with sunny eggs, salsa verde, and crispy potatoes. From Kelly: Recommend trying for a reservation, especially on Sunday. Sundays are also the Ballard Farmers market, which is very popular with locals. Parking will require some patience. :)
