Amazing Italian deli/restaurant across the road. It would be crazy to not pop in for a visit. It can be difficult to get a table because the place is so popular. The whole menu is also available to take away at slightly cheaper prices so if it’s packed then just choose what you fancy and bring it back to the flat to eat.

Coia’s is a Glasgow institution. Open since the 1920’s, this Italian family restaurant has been in the Coia family ever since. Big booth seating, reasonable prices and a lively Italian atmosphere. Great breakfasts as well.

Just one block down from Coia’s on Duke Street, Café Tibo is a small bistro which serves a mixed menu relying on Scottish ingredients wherever possible. They have a well-stocked bar with a great wine list. Some evenings they run spoken word and live music nights.

Set within an Edwardian townhouse, it has been expertly renovated and is a beautiful place to spend an evening – sophisticated but comfortable. The chefs are some of Scotland’s best, the menu is creative, artistic and very well devised. It’s quite expensive – up to £25 for a main course – but really feels like a treat.

In my opinion, Tapa do the best coffee in Dennistoun. Around a 15 minute walk from the flat, it makes for a good stopping point on the walk into the city centre.
Great baked goods as well, of course.

Templeton StreetThe People’s Palace is a museum at Glasgow Green tells the story of Glasgow and the people that made it. The adjoining Winter Gardens are beautiful, and feature Californian redwoods and impressive palm trees. Also has a small café.
Tucked away just off Buchanan Street, the Lighthouse is Scotland’s Centre for Design and Architecture and features design exhibits. Take the lift to the top for panoramic views of Glasgow. Climb the tower (designed by Glasgow’s most famous designer Charles Rennie Mackintosh) even higher for open air views. There are also some great bars on Mitchell Lane at the foot of the Lighthouse.

Celtic Park is a 20 minute walk from the flat. Home stadium of Glasgow Celtic (Scottish champions for the past 6 years) they run tours and have a ticket office at the ground where you can purchase match tickets and Celtic merchandise.

Parks & Nature
Beautiful local park - great place for a walk or run. There is an outdoor gym, small basketball court, duck pond and even a 9 hole golf course. Great views of the city are possible if you choose the uphill paths. A lovely place for a picnic in the summer. Drinking alcohol in public is not technically allowed in Glasgow, but on a sunny weekend you will see lots of people having a cold drink with their picnic. In most places it is not policed at all. Except Kelvingrove Park (see below).

Beautiful local park - great place for a walk or run. There is an outdoor gym, small basketball court, duck pond and even a 9 hole golf course. Trains to Balloch on the banks of the loch leave regularly from Bellgrove station (15 minute walk from the flat) and cost only £6.30 for an off-peak day return. Journey time: 52 minutes.
