The Preserve begins about one-half mile southeast of the town of Morongo Valley in the Little San Bernardino Mountains and opens at the bottom of Big Morongo Canyon into the west end of the Coachella Valley northwest of Desert Hot Springs (see Map). Elevations on the Preserve range from 600 feet on the canyon floor to over 3000 feet at the ridgetops. Several trails, including boardwalks through the marsh and stream habitats, meander through the Preserve. The one-half mile Marsh Trail is wheelchair-accessible.
The Preserve is open daily throughout the year--from 7:30 am to sunset.

The museum is open 1:00 to 4:00 pm, Wednesday through Sunday, (September - May) and 1:00 to 4:00 pm, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday during the summer (June - August). Admission is free, however, donations are always appreciated. Gifts, contributions, endowments, and material donations are all, or partially, tax deductible.

He built the structure in Landers, California (near Joshua Tree), supposedly following instructions provided by visitors from the planet Venus. The Integratron machine was started in 1957, the structure erected in 1959.
After Van Tassel's death in 1978, the building had a series of owners (and was left in various states of disrepair) before sisters Joanne, Nancy, and Patty Karl bought it in the early 2000s. The sisters promote the Integratron as an "acoustically perfect structure," give tours and offer "sound baths".
