Absolutely the BEST Thai restaurant in Taupo. This lovely Thai restaurant is very small, doesn’t look like much from the outside, but the food is awesome and beautifully presented. If you’d like to try a starter, we’d HIGHLY recommend the ‘Money Bags’, they are truly little parcels of heaven - very scrumptious. Parks & Nature
If you like walking don't drive to Huka Falls, instead do the walk from Spa Park (which is just north of Taupo town centre) to Huka Falls. It's about 45 minutes each way from the end of County Avenue (there is a car park at the end of the Avenue).
At the Spa Park end of the walk you also have an opportunity to bath in thermally heated waters for free where a small hot stream runs into the Waikato River. The walk runs alongside the Waikato and it's a beautiful stretch of the river with pristine clear water right along.

If you like walking don't drive to Huka Falls, instead do the walk from Spa Park (which is just north of Taupo town centre) to Huka Falls. It's about 45 minutes each way from the end of County Avenue (there is a car park at the end of the Avenue).
At the Spa Park end of the walk you also have an opportunity to bath in thermally heated waters for free where a small hot stream runs into the Waikato River. The walk runs alongside the Waikato and it's a beautiful stretch of the river with pristine clear water right along.

There is a section of the lakefront where you can effectively get a free pedicure by walking through the gravel at the lake edge as vents of hot water are pushed through to the surface of the lake within about a metre of the lake edge. It's about a 30 minute walk to this stretch of the lakefront from our door, or a 5 minute drive (place to park opposite Mobile petrol station on Lake Terrace).

Great fun for kids, and the young at heart. We’ve also heard really good things about the food there and if you manage to catch a prawn, you can get it cooked and eat it there too. Make sure you take the tour as we think they give you tips on how best to catch the prawns!
