The "PODA" Nature Reserve is a unique place for every bird lover. What distinguishes it from any other city in Bulgaria is the abundance of birds in all seasons. This is the only region in Bulgaria where three large water reservoirs have survived - Atanasovsko lake, Bourgas lake (Vaya) and Mandren complex. With its diverse nature and super-salty, semi-salty and freshwater, along with the sea, they provide many different ecological conditions and suitable locations for a large number of birds, many of which are endangered by extinction. This makes Burgas and one of the few cities in Europe, surrounded by wetlands of international importance.
