The closest thing to southern bbq I have been able to find in New York. Friendly staff. The line can go down the block during peak hours so try to go as soon as they open or just after the lunch hour.

One of the best brunch/dinner spots in East Village and there's almost never a wait. Try the mushroom risotto! The interior has a vintage and unique feel. The bathrooms are really nice, too.

One of the best running paths in the city. It will take you southeast over the Williamsburg or Brooklyn bridge or north toward the United Nations. There is also a bike path and picnic areas for bbqing
