O Tapas

This is my favorite seafood restaurant of all times! I just love the quality of their seafood, it's amazing. There is no place I rather go on special occasions than "O tapas". I always ask for the same and I really advise you to do the same "Mariscada", it's a full seafood experience with crab, clams, tiger shrimp, oysters, two dishes of meat or fish (you choose) fresh bread with butter, beers and wine, so delicious! And the best part is cheap (around 50-60€) per two. When you get there you will notice a lot of Cristiano Ronaldo pics, don't think the owner is a freak fan! They are good friends, Mr.Armenio took care of Cristiano when he was a little boy together with is own son.

Santa Lucia bar

An excellent excuse to go out and enjoy some beers with natives. There's always a lot of Tavira citizens that go there to eat a Tapa (Petisco in portuguese), the bar is open from morning till evening (2pm to 2am). Owners are friendly and maybe you can chat with some people there,it would be great that right?

The ecovia will take you to the Ria Formosa Natural Park that is one of the most amazing places of the Algarve, not only for its variety of landscapes but also because of its unique location. Recently elected as one of the 7 Natural Wonders of Portugal. A paradise for birdwatchers, the Ria Formosa is considered an important bird area (IBA) and is part of the Natura 2000 Network. This is one of the most important areas for aquatic birds in Portugal, hosting on a regular basis more than 20,000 birds during the wintering period.

Cabanas Beach

To the East side of Tavira Island, you will find the Island and Cabanas beaches, a narrow but long strip of land before the last bar across the river estuary to the East. The beach of Cabanas is situated in front of the village, whose origin goes back to the old days of tuna fishing in this area, and which even today remains a picturesque fishing village. From the waterfront at Cabanas, fishing boats can be seen anchored in the Ria Formosa.There are boats to the island (in the form of a taxi service) from the waterfront at Cabanas (signposted and roughly one and a half kilometres from the EN 125). The parking area is organised. The beach has basic support facilities (restaurant and toilets).

To the East side of Tavira Island, you will find the Island and Cabanas beaches, a narrow but long strip of land before the last bar across the river estuary to the East. The beach of Cabanas is situated in front of the village, whose origin goes back to the old days of tuna fishing in this area, and which even today remains a picturesque fishing village. This beach is a hide paradise on hearth on our beautiful Tavira. Expose to the sun, salt and elements you have the anchors that lay on the beach for more thn 50 years. This is the beach with the biggest Tavira heritage, this you can feel the presence of the ancient sailors that everyday where fighting for their food on the sea. There is several ways to get there but if you have a car you can get there quick though on the summer time there is a lot of traffic. You can always rent a bike and cycle until Pedras D’El Rei or catch the bus (2.20€). Once you are in Pedras D’el Rei you have to catch the mini train, the price is just 2€ and is a really pleasant trip.
