Close to the Limfjord coast on Salling lies one of the clear most fascinating attractions in the area if you are to knights, princesses and the wings of history.
Here is Denmark's best preserved medieval castle namely. Spøttrup Borg was built in the late Middle Ages at the beginning of the 16th century, and to this day, the building's thick walls, many defensive measures and double moat still provide a unique insight into how a gentleman's seat then defended itself against outsiders.
It is a great experience for young and old to walk under the arched vaults and into the same old halls where bishops, nobles and knights of the day were partying.
Outside the castle there is a large, beautiful park, which includes, among other things, an exciting herb garden, where you can become wiser about the healing properties of various herbs.
Throughout the year, a series of events are held at the castle, where the story is brought to life. Here are popular Christmas and autumn markets with lots of activities, and in July, West Jutland's largest medieval market will be held on site.

Welcome, HP Hjerl Hansen invites you inside to the museum he established in 1930. As a tribute to the quiet work of women, i.a. his own mother's hard work. Join the journey when Hjerl Hede tells what it was like to live in the country for 300 years. The real, sensual and at times fragile and cramped conditions. Life as it was before industrialization gives time for reflections. A bygone era where everyone lived by their craft. The living history of summer and Christmas is shown by almost 80 volunteers who master the forgotten crafts. Take the whole family by the hand, learn, play and make sense Through the story, here are memorable experiences.

when the museum is brought to life.
The old school
Buy a school package at the visitors’ centre and experience what it was like to going to school
in the old days. The school package costs 40 Dkr and contains an ABC book and a slate pencil.
When you arrive at the school, the teacher will be waiting outside. Before class can begin,
you must put on a scarf or cap - and clogs, of course. Then all the school children form two
lines and enter the classroom. Here you will be taught Bible stories, arithmetic, reading and
writing. Beware - the teacher may be a little stern! During the break you will play old games.
Historical playroom
Play with history in the old vicarage, which is laid out with a cowshed, a corridor and a living
room with a child-sized kitchen. You can dress up, cook at the small wood-burning stove and
serve the food at the refectory table. You can even have a nap in the alcove. You can also play
old games in the historical playroom.
Next to the historical playroom there is an activity room, where you can try your hand at chores
from the old days. Among other things, you can card wool and spin yarn.
Historical playground
Walk on stilts or ride a penny farthing (old-fashioned bike), pull the chickens down or challenge
your family to a game of throwing boots. There are loads of old and fun playthings from your
great-grandfather’s days on the historical playground.
The Stone Age settlement
Help the Stone Age people grind corn into flour or make your own Stone Age trinkets out of shells.

The museum focuses on the First World War in the North Sea, with emphasis on the Jutland battle off the west coast of Jutland in 1916.
It was the largest naval battle in world history at that time, and it has never since passed.
Just over 100 kilometers west of Thyborøn, 100,000 men and 250 German and British ships fought for dominion at sea, and the order of the gun was so fierce that it could be heard ashore.
The battle lasted 12 hours, and when it was over, 25 ships lay at the bottom of the sea. 8,645 German and British sailors lost their lives.
As the war on land stopped and the fronts dug down, events in the North Sea were crucial to the outcome of the First World War. Only in Thyborøn can you see the whole story.
The Sea War Museum Jutland was created by the diver and businessman Gert Normann Andersen, who, through a long life, searched the battlefields of the North Sea and retrieved objects from the sea floor before being destroyed by heavy fishing gear or the natural degradation.
For the same reason, the museum has many unique objects that cannot be seen anywhere else, including an entire submarine tower of brass from the British submarine E 50.
