Currently, there are two cendol stalls outside the temple – but you can easily spot James’ stall with the red bow-tie trademark.T he secret to a good cendol lies in the palm sugar, coconut milk and green cendol strands – this cendol has it all. Add a dollop of pulut rice and you are soon on your way to cendol heaven. One of the things that make James Cendol so special is his pulut rice. Unlike most pulut rice that tends to be too hard, his version is fragrant and slightly chewy, giving the cendol a nice bite.

It is one of the oldest and most established restaurants in Sitiawan, having moved from its original outlet in Kampung Koh to its present location, which is more accessible to the average tourist. Mantis prawn cooked with nestum and sugar is sprinkled on top to give it a hint of sweetness. Fish maw cooked with sea cucumber - this is a rather spicy dish and is a well known Foo Chow delicacy which always makes its way to the dining table during special occasions such as Chinese New Year and birthdays. Tofu soup – this is another dish found in Sitiawan – made with lots of tofu and "choy sum".
