This series of 3 coves is a beautiful Atlantic Ocean location about 30 minutes from here. Travel out along 306, Old Sambro Road and enjoy the coastal scenery with fishing docks, lobster traps and the often white-capped waters and return via 349 for an easier drive back after enjoying the boardwalks and crystalline waters. If you want to go for the day, ask me about the 'Enchanted Forest'.

1.6km/1 mile walking trail part of Sir Sanford Fleming Park;
accessible from stairs a few houses down the road on the right or path directly after stream. The walk around the pond is 1.6km/1 mile. At the parking lot on Purcell's Cove Road you can cross the road and continue along the path to Ravenscragg subdivision and soccer field, arriving at William's Lake Road, about another 1.4 kms/1 mile to Sobey's, the Liquor Store and a Walk-In Medical Clinic.

BLT is a great long trail to explore. If you are going a long way, people often ride their bikes. Walking, one might want to plan a vehicle at both ends. https://blttrails.ca/

https://www.halifaxtrails.ca/hemlock-ravine-park/ a little hard to find, this 200-acre park is worth the search. Just off the Bedford Highway it's entrance features the heart-shaped pond. Somewhere near there is the access to the tunnel to Prince's Lodge. [see Historical Places section] Nice trails and energy, although some sections were ravished by Hurricane Juan in 2003 and I am not either sure if they have been repaired or aware of the state of the hemlock trees, generally, as hemlocks have been susceptible to disease recently.
In the Spring, check out the Natural History Museum for the night walk to watch the salamanders emerge from the pond after their winter hibernation in the pond's mud.

Historical Places [some]
An international historic site, this church experienced a massive fire June 3, 1994 due to a story someone told a young boy and encouraged him to start the fire in the basement of the church. As the story goes, the boy was forgiven by the church and received a lot of healing around the situation. Noted for its architecture. HRH Prince Edward, Duke of Kent, returned to Halifax in 1978 and spear-headed the commissioned the plans based on the round architectural style. Read more under Prince's Lodge.
