There are many local bars in corners of narrow streets. Btw you can get Valletta from Sliema by ferry which is maybe the shortest ferry trip in the world :D

Mdina, aka Ghost Town, Slient City, is one of the most known spots in Malta. It has quite old story as well as host to many movies and TV series.(Even some episodes of GOT) Just get lost in narrow streets of Ghost Town and feel the old times.

Paceville is a street full of bars, shisha bars, night clubs and strip clubs. It is a lso the most known place for night life in Malta. Clubs are easy going and mostly do not charge for entrance as long as there is not a special event. Prices for drinks are reasonable. In summer usually as crowded as it gets.

Gianpula is a high class nightlife village . There are couple of clubs next to each other. Clubs are here usually host known DJs in summer. Entrance is usually with ticket, prices varies depending on the event and DJ. I guess all clubs here are open air clubs.
