It takes only 10 seconds to reach the Takase River and about 2 minutes to the Kamo River, that is Kyoto’s most beautiful riverside walking /riding area. A 24-hour supermarket (Fresco) is located nearby, and the neighborhood is known for many hidden cafés, local restaurants, and small shops.

TabiTabi Kamogawa is a private Machiya house for one group per day, located along the Kamogawa River in Kyoto. From the living room and balcony you can enjoy beautiful river views and the changing seasons — cherry blossoms in spring, lush greenery in summer, colorful autumn leaves, and quiet winter scenery. Birds often fly across the river, creating a peaceful Kyoto atmosphere. The sunroom also features an indoor glamping tent for a unique stay with family or friends.

We have renovated the bathroom and kitchen areas to make your stay more comfortable while still retaining the charm of the townhouse, such as the low ceilings and narrow, steep stairs. Why not try experiencing a bit of Kyoto life? Please note that we will charge a local accommodation tax (200 yen per person per night) in addition to the accommodation fee. The tax fee will increase to 400 yen from March 1, 2026.

Loft on top of a machiya

This is a unique loft space on top of a rare 3 floors machiya located on the central island of Kyoto. On the top floor of HASU former ryokan, we have designed an ensuite appartement with 2 rooms that are like 2 small houses. One room is located on the East side, and the other on the West side, they both have their own shower. The house was renovated in 2020 in order to offer an authentic experience in an ancient ryokan, with a contemporary comfort.

Machiya Stay in Gojo, Near Gion and Kyoto Sta.

The house was an Ochaya (literally "tea house")before and we renovated it, which is an establishment where patrons are entertained by geisha. We kept the original structure and make it much more modern and comfortable. The river in front of the house is the must-see in Kyoto changing from cherry bloom to maples. The best location near Gojo bridge and Kiyomizuーgojo sta. can make it very convenient to all the famous spots.
