Located at the Area of Protected Landscape of the Açor Mountain, near the village of Benfeita, the Fraga da Pena (Pena Cliff) is a kind of small replica of the Poço do Inferno (Hell's Well) on the Estrela Mountain. As they flow to the Mata Brook, the waters of the Barroca das Degraínhas meet a lower part of more than 20 metres that form a waterfall and, below, a small lagoon. The cliff is entirely covered by moss and surrounded by vegetation. The local temperature, even in the summer, is extraordinarily low. Beautiful waterfall part of the national park. Ten to fifteen minutes walk from the village of Pardieiros, in the protected Serra do Açor, you will find a series of waterfalls of 19m height hidden in the quiet of the forest. The water in the natural pools is cold and clear. A spot perfect for an afternoon picnic in the shade of the green olive, plum and some very old chestnut trees. Swimming is recommended only for the brave, and on days 35 C. Not recommended for infants or people with limited mobility. The way to the waterfall is not very long, but you can only do it on foot.
