This is a bite-size museum (1.5 hours) to really understand the history of all the creative ways in which those in east Germany tried to escape to West Germany. Lots of real-life props and pictures bring it to life! You will love this museum.

rebuilt after the original checkpoint in cold war, the former border crossing is an attraction for visitors. handsome soldiers in US and Sowiet uniforms are ready to take pictures with you (cost some money through T.T)

At the intersection of Zimmerstraße and Friedrichstraße, Checkpoint Charlie is still an impressive reminder of Germany's most famous former border crossing and the time of the Cold War. Today the wall has disappeared and the watchtowers and barriers of the former military checkpoint have been replaced by replicas, which are amongst Berlin's most popular photo themes. For over 50 years the Mauermuseum - Museum Haus am Checkpoint Charlie, founded in 1962 as a bastion of peace in freedom, has stood at the legendary Checkpoint Charlie border crossing, the geographical focal point of the Cold War, where the West-East divide began and ended.
