Renting a car is the highly recommended. Courtesy car rental will meet you at the ferry Dock and bring you to the agency near by. (must let them know ahead) Look them up and make a reservation early. There are many more great car Rental Companies as well.

you can walk to Courtesy which is just behind the animal shelter. If you have time volunteer to walk a dog before renting your jeep.
