Olivera street is the heart of Los Angeles, the original Pueblo where the oldest buildings still remain. There are sit down restaurants and casual food stands. Stall vendors and beautiful shops sell clothing, pottery, and various gifts and trinkets from Mexico and Central America. You can visit the oldest house in LA, which is now a museum. It’s a fun and lively spot and we love to take out of town guests there for some local flavor.

Olvera Street in Los Angeles, is a historic district in downtown Los Angeles. Los Angeles was officially founded in 1781, El Pueblo de Los Angeles Historic Monument documents the early history of the city. Great shopping and eating to be found in the walkways, you can also frequently find live music and dancing in the square. The many small museums in the area are all worth looking at - including Fire Station 1, the first fire station in Los Angeles. Easy access via Metro Gold Line. Get off at the historic Union Station (make sure to walk around it looking at the architectural details) before crossing the street and walking the short distance to Olvera Street.

The very first street in Los Angeles is now a tribute to the city's latino heritage. A great place for authentic Mexican food or to find unique gifts.
