The Visitor’s center is located in the northernmost reaches of the Corridor. Originally named the John H. Chafee Blackstone Valley National Heritage Corridor, after one of Rhode Island’s most prominent US Senators, the Blackstone Heritage Corridor, is a special type of national park. It is a region of nearly 400,000 acres located within Providence County in northern Rhode Island and Worcester County in central Massachusetts. The centers, and river access, provide historical views through the parks and museums along the Blackstone Canal and Towpath cutting through town limits and south across the state line into Rhode Island in its rush to Narragansett Bay, forty-three miles to the south.
