3.9 MILES AWAY - Set into the hillside of the stunning Pentland Hills Regional Park, Midlothian Snowsports Centre offers all the fun and adrenaline you'd expect from Britain's biggest artificial slope. There are 2 main slopes, 3 nursery slopes, a jump slope and a range of freestyle features so there’s something to satisfy every level of ability. Try a chairlift ride if all you want is to enjoy the spectacular views, or walk across the Pentland Hills (minimum age for chairlift rides is 4 years old). The Café is a great place to re-fuel after a session on the slopes or to just relax with friends. Wifi is available within the Café area. It has a balcony area with fantastic views across the main slope and nursery slope, so you won't miss any of the action while taking a well-earned break. All day breakfasts and home-baking available.

Outdoor hillside dry ski slopes. The closest you'll get to the real thing this close to a capital city.Visitors can pay for a lift pass to use the slopes. Equipment hire available.

If you are trying to keep your ski legs in good shape the Midlothian Snowsports Centre, formerly the Hillend Ski Centre, is the longest dry ski slope in Europe, situated near Hillend near Edinburgh, South East Scotland. Tubing and para gliding is also nearby should you have some spare time and energy left over. This can be reached by bus though you need to walk up the hill to the ski centre. Good exercise.

This is the ski center, the longest artificial ski slope in Northern Europe. You can also catch a bus here to do a day's terrific hiking in the Pentland hills. Climbs above the ski center, descend to the lake, and then hike out to pretty Balerno village and get a bus back.
