Plantation house circa 1738. Drayton Hall is an 18th-century plantation located on the Ashley River about 15 miles (24 km) northwest of Charleston, South Carolina, and directly across the Ashley River from North Charleston, in the "Lowcountry." An outstanding example of Palladian architecture in North America and the only plantation house on the Ashley River to survive intact through both the Revolutionary and Civil wars, it is a National Historic Landmark. Take a tour of this 18th century estate and the oldest unrestored historic site open to the public in America (tickets available online)

America's oldest unrestored home. A grand old plantation on the river. Very educational and enjoyable.

The most interesting of the three from an architectural standpoint, Drayton Hall has been expertly preserved and maintained over the centuries. ** No Air Conditioning, dress appropriately**

Drayton Hall, circa 1738, is the oldest unrestored plantation house in America still open to the public and the nation's earliest example of fully executed Palladian architecture.
