Private Pottery Wheel Lesson
After being introduced to the space and to each other, I will provide a quick demonstration on the wheel with a small amount of clay. Afterwards, each guest will be allowed time to create a piece on the wheel from beginning to end with personal instruction and assistance from me. Guests are welcome to make anything they would like to on the wheel! Cup, bowl, vase, dish, etc. (Please Read)The firing of pottery is a long process that is separate from the time we spend on the wheel. Each piece requires a two day long firing process in a kiln, and I hand glaze each piece. I offer kiln services out of my personal studio if you have interest in having your piece fired for a *small fee that is not due the day of the experience.* I do not include this in the price of the experience because some guests do not wish to keep their piece. Wear comfortable clothing that you don't mind getting some clay on. Clay will wash out, but you may not want to go out right after. The time noted on the experience, 2 hours, is generally descriptive of a 2 person experience which encompasses the majority of my bookings. In general, the experience is 1 hour per person. If there are 3 or 4 people in the booking, likely the experience will extend the 2 hour session time, and if there is 1 person in the booking it will be closer to an hour.
Birdwatching for Beginners in Beautiful West Sonoma County
No binoculars? No problem! We've got you covered with quality binoculars and a high-powered spotting scope to bring those birds up close! We want to help beginners get out and appreciate the bird world. Don't be shy if you've never birded before - that's what we're here for! (All experience levels are welcome though.) You'll meet us for a slow meander along Sonoma County's bucolic West County Regional Trail in Sebastopol. There, we'll look at, listen to, and identify a variety of songbirds, woodpeckers, raptors, and much more. Time allowing, we’ll walk 1 mile to a water treatment pond for a chance to see some duck species before birding our way back (a flat, paved 2-mile roundtrip). We’ll send you home with a paper checklist of the species we observed throughout our walk. And, if you're on eBird, we will share the day's checklist with you. We guarantee you'll leave with an increased appreciation of the bird life that surrounds us! If there are any specific birding skills you'd like to focus on improving (visual ID, birding by ear, etc.), let us know and we'll be happy to tailor the walk to your interests. If you don’t see a time that fits your schedule, or if you're a group larger than 6, contact us and we’ll try to accommodate you! PLEASE NOTE: There are no restrooms at this location.
Easy Sourdough Bread In Minutes

If baking has always intimidated you, this is a great class for you, as you will leave here with the confidence to DO IT!! Other things to note Even if you have never baked bread before, you will leave with all the skills you need to do this at home, including a list of equipment and ingredients. If you are able to travel with it, we will provide you with some fresh lively sourdough starter to take home. This cannot go on airplanes.
Vegan picnic with rescued animals
We'll start with a tour of the sanctuary where you'll meet a variety of rescued farm animals. We'll share their stories of resilience and healing and talk a bit more about the industries they come from. You'll love meeting our animal ambassadors and may be surprised at what you learn, since we so rarely see the animals in our food system. Join us afterwards at our picnic tables in the field for a glass of local wine and a vegan cheese and charcuterie platter. (Note: The platter contains nuts and gluten unless otherwise requested. Please inform us of any allergies when you make your booking so we can be sure to provide suitable options. Non-alcoholic beverages will also be served.) The Experience will last approximately 2 1/2 to 3 hours. Please be mindful that as a sanctuary for rescued animals, our priority is the physical and emotional well being of the rescued animals who call Charlie's Acres home. Our loved animal residents are completely free and always have a choice as to whether or not they want to interact with visitors. They will reside at the sanctuary for the rest of their lives, where we'll have the honor of taking care of them. Enjoy Private Chef Dave in Sonoma
Take advantage of our group discounts! ★ 10% OFF — groups from 4 to 5 guests ★ 15% OFF — from 6 guests My kitchen experience is formed around the experience of being Puro Californio, my indigenous ancestors go back before the Spaniards arrived, and the European side sailed from France to settle Sonoma in the 1850s. Those roots run deep in ancestry and attitude. My palate reflects that and draws from Americana, Regional Mexican, Mediterranean, Moroccan, and even aspects of Vietnamese. The West Coast experience is in my blood, and the purest expression of that for me is via the plate and pen. I also have a gritty, sentimental side that I pour onto each preparation. I will arrive before your dining time to begin working my magic. Not only that, but I will show up at your doorstep equipped with every ingredient needed to prepare your meal. Feel free to put your apron on and cook some dishes with me! I am eager to share with you the secrets behind my recipes and local hidden treasures.
Oyster Shucking Class
We’ll meet and have a nice chat about the different types of shellfish we offer. Then we’ll get into how to shuck an oyster, with some hands on practice! I’ll also give you my tips and tricks for purchasing, storing, preparing, cooking, and serving these tasty mollusks! There will be plenty of time left over for you to enjoy some oysters on the half shell at the end and also to answer any remaining questions you might have.
Guided Russian River Kayak Tour
Our Sonoma Coast Kayak Tour takes you to the edge of the beautiful Pacific Ocean where we paddle the Russian River as it meets the sea. Birds, seals, and a fantastic paddle are just some of the highlights of this great day on the water. We meet in the small coastal village of Jenner where your guide will give a brief safety and paddling instruction before beginning the paddle. We spend 2-2.5 hours exploring the beautiful Jenner estuary keeping our eyes open for Harbor seals, cormorants, pelicans, otters, and bald eagles. Your local guide will explain why this is such a special area while discussing history, wildlife, and the weather unique to this ecosystem.
Wine Tasting, Live Music & Spectacular Views
Our guests will be given directions to drive to Le Vin Winery & Vineyards. There you will be greeted and taken to the west corral. With an introduction to our Le Vin and Seawolf Wines and Le Vin olive oil. Seated for an incredible outdoor wine tasting, olive oil tasting. You will experience a taste of our wines, a selection of 5 wines throughout the 2 hour visit. The live music begins on the Corral Stage overlooking the most expansive views of mountain ranges and valleys below. Eric London will play guitar and sing his original folk rock songs with other musicians. Check him out on Spotify! A lovely way to spend time experiencing wine, magnificent views, & original folk rock music. Take a short walk or hike on this beautiful 164 acre Estate Winery. What makes this experience special is the beautiful location, fantastic music, and the delicious wine and olive oil tasting we serve. Bring a picnic lunch or other snacks if you wish.
Create a sea glass pendant w/an artist
Arriving at my studio just 3 miles from highway 1 in Mendocino and I will give you a brief tour of the shop and describe the equipment we will be using and some safety guidelines. Guests will be able to choose a piece of sea glass from my large collection and we will get to work on making a sterling silver pendant. Guests may participate in whatever part they want to and can always just watch if they are not comfortable with any aspect of the process. The first step is making a bezel, then filing and soldering it closed. Then we reshape it around the seaglass and saw out a piece of sheet to solder it to. After we solder the bezel to the sheet we will saw out the edges and then file the edges and buff with the flex shaft. Then we will solder the jump ring to the pendant and then solder another ring that will be for sliding onto a chain or leather necklace. We will scrub the silver with a wire brush and soapy water to create a matte finish and set the sea glass into the setting using special tools. I will provide a cool suede or silk sliding necklace to put it on or they can purchase a chain if they prefer, or bring your own chain. All throughout the lesson I will be giving them information about what they are doing and why. I can teach up to two people at one time and will give a discount to second person of $150. Just let me know and we can settle up when you come.
