The return trip on a steam train to Corwen is unforgettable. An alternative day out is to walk from the cottage to Berwyn railway station, take the train to Carrog and walk back on the Dee Valley Way.

Park near the top and walk over to the Second World War bomb craters. The local Home Guard placed beacons here to mimic the shape of Liverpool docks. Lots of German bombers were fooled by the ruse and countless lives were saved.
