New Bern is a something for everyone destination. Whether you are getting together with family or friends, the town and surrounding areas offer fun, charming, historical and adventurous activities: on land, open air or water.
Located in the Neuse River Recreation Area in eastern North Carolina, Flanners Beach is situated on a bluff overlooking the scenic Neuse River and within a half-hour drive from the Atlantic Ocean and Intracoastal Waterway. Located in the Croatan National Forest offers one of many nearby easy/intermediate trail hikes by foot or bike.

Tryon Palace, formerly called Governor's Palace, Newbern, was the official residence and administrative headquarters of the British governors of North Carolina from 1770 to 1775. Located in New Bern, North Carolina, the palace was often at the center of state occasions and hospitality. The residence was seized by patriot troops in 1775. Shortly after the state capital was relocated to Raleigh in 1792, the main building burned to the ground. A modern recreation faithful to the original architect's plans and some period appropriate support structures were erected on the site in the 1950s and opened to the public in 1959. The palace garden was also recreated, with 16 acres of plantings, representing three centuries of landscape and gardening heritage. Today, the palace is a state historic site.

Tryon Palace, formerly called Governor's Palace, Newbern, was the official residence and administrative headquarters of the British governors of North Carolina from 1770 to 1775. Located in New Bern, North Carolina, the palace was often at the center of state occasions and hospitality. The residence was seized by patriot troops in 1775. Shortly after the state capital was relocated to Raleigh in 1792, the main building burned to the ground. A modern recreation faithful to the original architect's plans and some period appropriate support structures were erected on the site in the 1950s and opened to the public in 1959. One of the true gems of the City, Union Point Park Complex is a scenic six acre site located at the point of the Neuse and Trent Rivers in beautiful historic downtown New Bern. The hallmark, a recently constructed Gasebo frequently used for weddings, festivals, and various special events, highlights what is a magnificent and breathtaking view. This complex includes a walkway bridgeing Union Point Park and Bicentennial Park, boat launch, restroom facilities, picnic and game tables, fishing piers, grills, and a small playground.

The Chelsea is located in a two-story 1912 building that was once used by the inventor of Pepsi-Cola, Caleb Bradham. Today, the building has been renovated, but little touches of the original atmosphere – such as the authentic transom windows – still remain to create a historic setting. As for fare, patrons will be treated to an extensive lunch or dinner menu that is brimming with modern twists on local standards and favorites.
