Gardens of the Cristal Palace are mandatory. Besides being such a lovely place to relax, they have absolutely stunning panoramic views of Porto and the Douro River. There is a caffé where you can sit and grab a drink or something to eat.

Crystal Palace Gardens > Awarded in 2023 by the prestigious british " Green Flag Award " and with title of Green Heritage Site, an accreditation granted to green spaces. Installed in the center of Porto, these gardens were designed by the berliner Emil David (1839-1873 a landscape architect, author of the design of most of the gardens of the city of Porto, in the second half of the 19th century), as part of the construction of the Crystal Palace building itself. This park stands out for its cleanliness, safety, maintenance, management and conservation of biodiversity, community involvement, landscape and cultural elements, as well as an active management plan, which demonstrates the intention to invest heavily in permanent improvement. Currently, the Emil David Garden at the main entrance, the Avenues of Tílias and Plátanos, the forest and the design of the balconies over the Douro are still well preserved from the original project. On Avenida das Tílias, we find the Almeida Garrett Municipal Library, the Acoustic Shell and the Chapel of Carlos Alberto of Sardinia.

The Romantic Gardens of the Crystal Palace occupy an area of 8 hectares in the center of Porto and were designed in the 19th century by the German landscape architect Émille David. Nowadays, the Crystal Palace which gives its name to the garden no longer exists, but it finds a huge diversity of flowers and vegetation, from centennial Japanese trees to a special garden of fragrant roses. There is also a "special window" overlooking the Douro river.

Landscaped gardens designed in the 19th century offering fountains, paths & Douro River views This beautifully landscaped park is dominated by a huge domed pavilion built in 1956 which replaced the 19th century iron-and-glass “Crystal Palace.” Today’s pavilion serves as a venue for concerts and sporting events. It is surrounded by a lake, flowerbeds, and roaming peacocks, all overlooking the Douro River, of which there are superb views. There is also a multimedia library, an auditorium, a cafeteria, and the Romantic Museum. Across the street from the park entrance is the gateway to the city’s art galleries district (Rua Miguel Bombarda has the largest number)
