No trip through Iranian Los Angeles would be complete without dessert from Mashti Malone’s. They have a huge selection of ice cream, but skip right to the bastani irani (Persian rosewater ice cream). They have a few variations of bastani here. My favorite is the saffron. Try the faloodeh, which is my favorite Persian dessert. It's basically vermicelli noodles frozen into a granita. Pour some fresh lemon juice onto it and you’re in heaven. I mix it with ice cream, and douse it with lemon juice—it’s worth a try!
